ICCO is the interchurch organisation for development cooperation. ICCO's mission is to work towards a world where poverty and injustice are no longer present. ICCO gives financial support and advice to local organisations and networks across the globe that are committed to providing access to basic social services, promoting peace and democracy and bringing about fair economic development.
ICCO has chosen the theme of Fair Economic Development because it contributes to transparent and fair production and trade. Important factors include alliances of producers, companies, knowledgeholders, NGOs and governments.
On the one hand, ICCO finances and supports programmes focused on concrete economic activities, and on the other hand, it works on influencing policy in areas such as international trade. In the Netherlands, ICCO joins forces with other organisations working on development assistance and trade. It lobbies for a coherent policy on trade and development co-operation, and it draws attention to ethical investments, socially responsible entrepreneurship, biotechnology, the plundering of raw materials and (economic) globalisation.
